THE POSITION

As a Staff Psychiatrist with the Department of Human Services, you will play an important role in providing expert psychiatric care at Clarks Summit State Hospital. You will help shape treatment plans and work closely with staff, patients, and families. This position lets you practice in a supportive environment where your leadership matters. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides direct psychiatric care and treatment planning for patients in the hospital. It is essential to ensure effective and well-coordinated treatment. As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will perform the following duties:
- Patient Evaluation: Perform psychiatric examinations and establish appropriate diagnoses
- Treatment Planning: Make unit rounds daily and develop individualized care plans
- Clinical Documentation: Prepare reports, progress notes, and treatment updates
- Emergency Response: Provide direction and management during medical emergencies
- Family Communication: Discuss treatment needs with patients and families to support readiness for community living
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Consult with medical staff and community providers on patient care

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You may work possible evening, weekend, or holiday on-call shifts. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
