DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps maintain the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and property across the Wernersville State Hospital campus. The role supports daily operations by monitoring activity, responding to issues, assisting with emergencies, and providing coverage to the communication center as necessary. As a Security Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Patrol: Survey tunnels, buildings, and grounds for hazards, unauthorized persons, and unusual conditions
- Conduct Oversight: Support orderly behavior among patients, visitors, and staff through monitoring and response
- Traffic Control: Enforce vehicle and parking rules to maintain safe and organized traffic flow
- Escort Support: Provide directions and escort services to patients, employees, and visitors when needed
- Incident Response: Gather information, complete reports, and assist in searches during unusual events or emergencies
- Inspection Duties: Perform safety checks, fire inspections, and routine maintenance tasks to support facility operations

- Full-time employment, 80 hours/biweekly
- Work hours are 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM, with (2) 15-minute breaks. You will have varied days off and be required to work every other weekend and holidays. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime will be required as necessary.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $38,515.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.

- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
