General Function:
- Requires working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), including system concepts, control families, and security processes to assess and mitigate vulnerabilities from cyber threats like hacking and denial-of-service attacks.
- Involves advising on protection methods for systems, applications, media, and equipment against a wide range of cybersecurity threats.
- Ensures personnel accessing information systems hold appropriate cybersecurity certifications per DoD 8570.01-M and AFM 17-1303 requirements.
- Supports preparation and enforcement of corrective actions to maintain compliance with cybersecurity workforce policies.
- Assists in implementing DoD, USAF, and MAJCOM cybersecurity policies and updating local operational procedures.
- Helps organize and coordinate cybersecurity requirements in alignment with DoD standards, policies, and system architectures.
- Contributes to system architecture design, functional specifications, interface definitions, and technical documentation.
- Uses RMF processes to support system Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) across the system lifecycle.
- Participates in lifecycle cybersecurity activities from system concept development through decommissioning.
- Develops and reviews key cybersecurity documentation such as IASs, IAPs, SSPs, ISAs, and assessment reports.
- Supports verification and validation testing, baseline control selection, mitigation strategies, and continuous monitoring efforts.
- Acts as a liaison between developers, users, and program management while supporting Integrated Process Teams.
- Evaluates security implementations to ensure compliance with standards like NIST 800-53, JSIG, and relevant DoD instructions.
- Applies telecommunications and computer systems knowledge to assess vulnerabilities and recommend system protections.
- Assists in resolving automation and data processing issues using programming, system design, and information management principles.
- Supports design, development, testing, and integration of databases, hardware systems, and simulation models.
- Recommends modern data storage and retrieval solutions and defines functional requirements for information systems.
- Monitors system activity for integrity, manages access controls, and reports incidents such as vulnerabilities or cyberattacks per Air Force guidance.
- Contributes to program security by integrating export control laws, developing security planning documents, and balancing risk with cost.
- Assists in handling, analyzing, and safeguarding critical and classified information, including producing reports with recommended security improvements.
Qualifications: Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
- MA/MS Degree with 10 years of directly related experience or BA/BS with 12 years of directly related experience or 15 years of directly related experience to this discipline
- Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Secret level.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project).
- Must be able to perform all functional duties independently.
- Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
