Program Coordinator and Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President

Europe Program and Global Order and Institutions Program

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a renowned international affairs institution, seeks a Program Coordinator and Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President to provide programmatic and administrative support for its Europe program, Global Order and Institutions (GOI) program, and the office of the senior vice president. This role will be based in Washington, D.C. and will split their time supporting two research programs and the senior vice president.

This is an unusual hybrid role within the organization. As the Program Coordinator for the Europe program and the Global Order and Institutions program, the incumbent will provide programmatic, administrative, and events support to both programs. Duties will include organizing meetings, roundtables, and conferences both domestically and abroad; coordinating between scholars, other programs, and organizations; managing calendars; scheduling meetings and coordinating travel; facilitating and fielding internal and external communications; tracking and processing expenses; assisting in financial reporting; managing stakeholder relationships through database administration. The incumbent will simultaneously serve as the executive assistant to the Senior Vice President, who leads Carnegie's research staff world-wide, and, in this role, the incumbent should be able to provide high-level administrative support including handling confidential information with discretion. This role is ideally suited to a candidate with an interest in gaining project management and programmatic operation skills.

Preferred candidates will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience including 1-2 years of demonstrated administrative experience (combined internship or college experience is acceptable) along with the ability to balance multiple competing tasks efficiently, a high degree of reliability and attention to detail, a positive team spirit, and a can-do attitude marked by flexibility and cooperation. Given that this position will support two research programs and the executive office, strong organizational skills are essential. Interest in the research agenda of either program is a plus but not required.

Located in Dupont Circle, Washington, DC, we offer an outstanding work environment and generous benefits, including health insurance. The anticipated salary range for this position is $52,000 - $55,000. Please apply with your resume and cover letter via the Carnegie Endowment website.
