Description

Markon is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to provide technical and administrative support across project planning, design support, and construction management activities. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining project documentation, routing and tracking contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), supporting schedule and milestone tracking, and helping ensure project records are organized, current, and accessible across the team. The PE will support Government-led project execution by assisting with document flow, record management, reporting, meeting documentation, and coordination of project information across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.

This position is best suited for an organized, detail-oriented professional who can manage high volumes of project documentation while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and consistency. A key function of the role is supporting the review and routing of submittals, RFIs, and related project records using familiarity with CSI MasterFormat, UFGS divisions, drawings, specifications, and other construction documents to help direct materials to the appropriate technical reviewers. The PE will also support project schedules, shared folders, submittal logs, marked-up record sets, closeout documentation, and routine status reporting while assisting the Government with non-discretionary project support tasks.

The role may support activities related to requirements development, site evaluations, draft scopes of work, cost estimate support, design reviews, submittal tracking, meeting coordination, inspections documentation, contractor schedule monitoring, progress reporting, and project closeout. This is a support role that contributes to project delivery through strong document control, coordination, and technical-administrative follow-through rather than independent decision-making authority.

Responsibilities

Maintain organized project files, logs, shared folders, and record sets to support accurate and accessible documentation across the team.
  • Route, track, and maintain contractor submittals, RFIs, and related correspondence through the appropriate review channels.

  • Track submittal workflows and maintain current submittal registers, logs, and related status records.
  • Support development, routing, and maintenance of project documents, including scopes of work, meeting records, reports, and closeout materials.
  • Maintain marked-up plans, specifications, as-built support documents, and other project record files.
  • Support project meetings by preparing materials, documenting discussions, and tracking follow-up items.
  • Assist with review and coordination of design and construction documentation, including submittals, RFIs, design comments, change documentation, and closeout packages.
  • Support site evaluations, field surveys, pre-construction coordination, and documentation of project conditions.
  • Help track project deliverables, milestones, and other schedule-related information, as assigned.
  • Assist with project reporting, including routine status updates, progress photographs, and supporting documentation.
  • Support documentation for inspections, field observations, defects, omissions, and non-compliant work identified by the Government.
  • Provide technical-administrative support for non-discretionary project tasks, including gathering information, organizing records, and drafting reports.
