The Sanmina facility in Austin, Texas provides precision machining and mechanical assembly services to customers. Precision machining capabilities include vertical milling, horizontal milling, and turning on a wide range of materials including aluminum, copper, composites, stainless titanium, and high alloy steel with a milling envelope of up to 60" x 50" x 40". The facility specializes in high-mix, low volume production and also offers subassembly, integration, New Product Introduction services, and clean room assembly.

Job Purpose:

Has knowledge in different welding techniques (spot, tig, mig, argon). Works from production plans provided by the supervisor. Assures that the equipment and machine meet the required conditions before starting the operation. Produce the first assembly and submit it to the supervisor for revision and approval before continuing the production process, including polishing.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities



  • Under direct supervision, follow established WPS and PQR procedures to perform MIG/FCAW (Gas Metal Arc) and TIG (Gas Tungsten Arc) welding operations for prototype or production jobs.
  • Programming, setting up, and runningvarious welding machines
  • Interprets weld symbols, places welds correctly, mounts fixtures, loads parts, closes clamps, and starts a basic welding cycle.
  • Competency in blueprint reading,geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Be proficient in the followingwelding in all positions: 1G, 2G, 5G, 6G, and using a positioner
  • Fabricate within dimensional tolerances as low as 0.010" and angle tolerances as low as 0.5 degrees
  • Proficient in welding upto 1inch thick Al and various thickness of stainless steel plates,tubing etc
  • Recognizes equipment and product problems, notifies supervisor, and/or troubleshoot errors in order to achieve optimum production levels.


Education and Experience



  • High School
  • Minimum 5years of precision welding experience with multiple materials types required
  • Proficient with reading blueprints and interpret documents including safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals (SOP's)
  • ASME Section 9 certification beneficial
  • AWS certifications beneficial (D1.1, D1.2, D1.3. D1.6)
  • Must be proficient with the use of measuring tools & validating own work to print specifications.
  • Must be able to set up and maintain all welding machines and tools.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Salary Range (annual): $60000 - $75000
