Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

The Sales Manager of Power Systems Sales is responsible for leading sales strategy and operations to drive revenue and profitability across product lines including industrial, residential, rental, marine, and switchgear. This role oversees and develops Sales Managers, manages sales planning and CRM utilization, and drives new market growth. Responsibilities include building key customer relationships, supporting major deal negotiations, coordinating with project management for successful execution, and providing technical guidance when needed. The role also focuses on team development, training, and performance management while ensuring alignment with company goals, policies, and safety standards.

  • Develops a business plan and sales strategy that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • Ensure smooth operation of Power Systems sales division to include industrial, residential, rental, marine, switchgear, etc.
  • Provides Guidance and Mentorship to Sales Managers and is ultimately responsible for their performance.
  • Strategic responsibility for Sales Operations process and planning.
  • Prepares tactical action plans for the effective search of sales leads and prospects.
  • Engage Kohler Sales and Support Personnel
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Ensures adoption and utilization of CRM system by sales team to log, qualify, track, forecast and report on leads, prospects, and closure of sales opportunities.
  • Responsible for Online Portal implementation for Aftermarket Parts and Consumer products.
  • Works with Sales Managers and supports sales meetings to track quotation activity, follow up & close rates.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key clients, including negotiating and closing on major opportunities.
  • Directs Project Management teams to ensure accurate submittals, delivery, implementation and commissioning are completed on time and on budget.
  • Will be expected to give technical advice and assistance as needed for all applications including complex switchgear.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction for internal and external customers.
  • Ensure necessary training for all team members.
  • Recruit and develop top talent and foster an effective team environment.
  • Communicate values, strategies, and objectives throughout the team.
  • Enforce ethical business practices and promote TAW's core values, vision, and mission.
  • Travel throughout division.
  • Promote all of TAW products and services.
  • Adhere to all company policies.
  • Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.).
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Report all injuries, near misses and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Conducts reviews with Sales Managers to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of Sales Personnel performance.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.
  • Working with internal sales application personnel provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Delegates authority and responsibility with accountability and follow-up.
  • Develop, revise and implement processes and procedures to maximize productivity and to achieve the company and division's goals.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related program, preferred plus 5-7 years' industry experience; or equivalent combination of education and field experience.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook), CRMs.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.
  • Ability to write clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read complex schematics, electrical and mechanical.
  • Physical Demands: Employee is required to: Sit frequently; stand, walk, kneel, squat, and stoop occasionally; use hands to finger to feel, handle, and grip tools and controls regularly; reach with hands and arms regularly; talk and hear. Employee must lift and move up to 5 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: Employee typically works in a climate controlled indoor office environment with adequate lighting and provided with an ergonomically-friendly work station configuration. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee might be exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee might be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is low with occasional moderate noise levels.
