Compensation: $28.00/hour - $30.00/hour

Position Summary:

Nutrition Educator is a part-time role on Children's Aid's Go!Healthy SNAP-Ed team, working approximately 12 hours/week, with a primary focus on leading nutrition and cooking education workshops for youth. The SNAP-Ed program objectives are to develop healthy eating behaviors and increase physical activity among youth and families served by Children's Aid. Under the supervision of the Program Manager for Nutrition Education, the Nutrition Educator will implement SNAP-Ed workshops at select Children's Aid schools and community centers in the south Bronx, Harlem, and Washington Heights. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic educator with experience providing cooking-based nutrition education in community settings to diverse audiences.

Essential Duties:



  • Plan, support, and facilitate group-based nutrition education and cooking workshops for youth and adults at Children's Aid partner schools and community sites by:

    • Preparing ingredients, materials, and equipment for food demonstrations.
    • Leading interactive activities and discussions focused on healthy behavior change.
    • Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked inventory of program supplies and equipment.
    • Engaging participants to foster learning, participation, and enthusiasm for nutrition topics.


  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with the Go!Healthy team and other Children's Aid staff to support effective program delivery.
  • Develop and distribute program-related communications and educational content aligned with the program's outreach and engagement strategy.
  • Track participation, document program activities, and support reporting requirements to ensure accurate data collection and program evaluation.
  • Attend required trainings, including SNAP-Ed, and actively participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable privacy and confidentiality regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Participate in in-person collaboration as an essential function of the role.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree or higher in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community or Behavioral Health, Health Education, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience facilitating in-person nutrition education or cooking workshops in a group setting.
  • Demonstrated culinary skills, including proficiency with basic knife techniques, ability to follow and adapt recipes, and experience with meal preparation and ingredient sourcing; ability and enthusiasm for teaching these skills to diverse audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to Children's Aid program sites located in Washington Heights, Harlem, and the South Bronx.

  • Ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with community members, site partners, and internal teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to timely and professional collaboration.
  • Adaptable and responsive to feedback, with the ability to adjust approaches to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Experience implementing and adapting curricula to effectively engage target populations.
  • Collaborative team player who contributes to a positive and productive team environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations; bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred.
