Responsibilities

Transportation Coordinator

Massillon, OH (Hybrid Schedule)

The Transportation Coordinator will oversee transportation logistics and ensure products are delivered on time and according to regulations. The position will help the Supply Chain Team and report to the Transportation Manager.

Your Seat at the Table:

  • Work efficiently with Customer Service and Warehousing to achieve established shared goals, support order changes, special requests, and customer freight requirements.
  • Evaluates and implements transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency for international, intercompany, and raw material transportation methods.
  • Conduct Shipment level speed and transit analysis to identify cost effectiveness, considering the needs of the business.
  • Identify variances and work with the Transportation Team to optimize costs & service.
  • Researches and analyzes transportation and pricing data global freight costs/classifications, tariffs, delivery methods, routing needs and delivery schedules in collaborations with vendors and suppliers to minimize delivery costs.
  • Analyze transportation operations, including performance and productivity data, error rates and their root causes.
  • Manage operational process improvement projects, I.E., Order life cycle reductions, implementing SOP's.
  • Identify and lead projects to help measure and improve lane routing and performance.
  • Monitor and analyze carrier expectations, execution, reporting and data integrity to ensure accountability from both internal and external partners.
  • Monitor exception reports and partner with Procurement, Customer Service & Production Planning to create and initiate action plans to resolve repetitive service issues.
  • Own development and maintain SOP's.
  • Become coordinator-level user in JDA TMS.
  • Maintain full truckload intermodal and LTL routing guides for Intercompany shipments.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table:

    • Minimum one year of Logistics and/or Warehouse experience
    • Highly analytical approach to problem solving, leveraging expertise in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
    • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
    • Must have strong time management - responsible for managing own timelines and set priorities.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess situations quickly and provide alternate solutions is key to success.
    • Willingness to question status quo and seek answers independently.
    • Excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships within our Transportation Team and our Supply Chain Team, both verbal and written
    • Flexible and adaptable; priorities change frequently based on business demands, the ability to change direction quickly is critical.
    • Ability to develop new tools and processes to support Shearer's overall goals and objectives.
    • Performs other or additional duties as assigned.
    • Excellent organizational skills
