Guardian Glass is looking for an Automation Process Engineer to join our team in DeWitt, IA!

At Guardian Glass, our Automation Process Engineers don't just support production-they shape how our glass performs in homes, buildings, and vehicles around the world. In this role, you'll take ownership of critical automation systems within our float glass operations, using data, engineering judgment, and collaboration to improve safety, stability, quality, and efficiency. You'll influence how work gets done on the production floor while driving improvements that make our plant more competitive and reliable.

What You Will Do

  • Own and optimize the capping line's automation logic and production schedule to maximize yield, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and reliability of automated packing equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform root cause analysis on automation and equipment issues; implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate full area ownership for the capping line in a 24/7 production environment, ensuring consistent performance and rapid response to issues.
  • Proactively share technical expertise with supervisors, operators, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for process innovation and waste reduction, lever aging data and feedback from the production floor.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in an engineering, automation, or controls role within a high-volume manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize automated production systems
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), ladder logic programming (Studio 5000), and automated packaging equipment
  • Experience developing, documenting, and improving standard operating procedures and training materials for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives, drive reliability, and foster a culture of safety and accountability
