The Role:

The Director, Nursing is accountable for the operations of the inpatient nursing units and serves as the focused clinical leader for Acute Care Services. This role is responsible for the quality assessment, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and standardization of systemwide inpatient care.

Working collaboratively with Nurse Executives, the Chief Nursing Officer, Support Services leaders, Service Line Directors, and Medical Directors, the Director plays a key leadership role in physician relationships, service excellence commitments for patients and staff, fiscal management, and program development. This position integrates with organizational operations, participates in performance improvement initiatives, and ensures professional and regulatory compliance across all assigned areas.

With a patientcentered mindset and strong team orientation, the Director functions as a collaborative leader who supports caregivers, assesses patient needs and expectations, and advances best practices that consistently exceed patient and family expectations.

What You'll Do:

Clinical Leadership & Care Standardization



  • Develop and implement standards and processes for inpatient units that support highquality patient care and comply with professional, regulatory, and community standards.
  • Guide and support services and programs that improve patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence in clinical areas through rounding, coaching, and reinforcement of best practices.


Operational Excellence & Workforce Management



  • Provide direction, leadership, and coordination of Acute Care Services.
  • Continually evaluate staffing levels based on patient acuity, care needs, budgetary considerations, staff competency, and the evolving healthcare environment.
  • Support the use of technology and information systems to enhance clinical care delivery and service performance.
  • Assess local and national healthcare trends and recommend improvements to care delivery systems.


Physician Partnership & EvidenceBased Practice



  • Work collaboratively with physicians to assess and improve clinical outcomes and implement evidencebased practices.
  • Evaluate the performance of care and services in partnership with nursing staff and medical providers.
  • Build and sustain strong physician relationships that enhance quality and patient satisfaction.


Performance Improvement & Program Development



  • Serve as a coach and mentor to leaders and team members, supporting outcomedriven goal setting and professional development.
  • Ensure performance improvement objectives are incorporated into each unit's annual goals and assist in establishing meaningful metrics.
  • Participate in strategic planning, program development, and marketing initiatives as requested in collaboration with service line and business development partners.


Financial Stewardship



  • Oversee budget preparation for assigned inpatient units and provide leadership for fiscal management.
  • Communicate fiscal expectations clearly to managers and partner with them to achieve budgetary and productivity goals.


Mission & Culture Leadership



  • Articulate and model the organization's mission, values, and vision, helping staff understand how their roles contribute to organizational success.
  • Promote a nursing practice environment grounded in collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, empowerment, and clear patient expectations.


What You'll Bring:

Education & Licensure



  • Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field; or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing if the Master's degree is not in Nursing.
  • Washington Registered Nurse License (required upon hire; vendor managed) .


Leadership & Experience



  • 5+ years of administrative experience in an acute care setting.
  • Experience leading Acute Care services.
  • Experience with large service lines (preferred) .

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with advanced clinical and organizational skills related to inpatient nursing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of administrative concepts, organizational behavior, management processes, clinical practice standards, legal and ethical principles, healthcare economics, public policy, and quality/outcomes measurement.
  • Demonstrated transformational leadership capabilities to inspire and lead teams.
  • Current knowledge of healthcare technology and industry trends.
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills, including statistical and financial reasoning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to influence departments and individuals outside of direct reporting relationships through collaboration, task forces, and alliances.
  • Ability to organize and lead effectively during emergent or crisis situations.

The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.

Further, we want our leaders to live in or near the communities we serve. Therefore, leaders applying for this role will be required to work a hybrid schedule, which consists of three days onsite, two days remote and live within a reasonable commuting distance to the ministry or service area they support and lead.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
