Essential Job Functions include the following; other duties may be assigned -
- Provides analytical chemistry services in an accurate and effective manner by:
- Preparing materials/specimens for chemical analysis using available laboratory equipment such as saws, cut-off wheels, grinders and shears.
- Performing analysis on production and raw materials using various instrumentation and methods, including X-Ray Fluorescence, Optical Emission Spectroscopy, Combustion and Infra-Red Spectroscopy, and Thermal Conductivity.
- Assisting in modification or refinement of existing analytical practices to improve laboratory performance.
- Reporting results.
- Performs administrative duties of the area in an accurate and effective manner by:
- Maintaining accurate records of services provided by documenting test results; logging samples in to LIMS software, entering data, and approving or over-checking work.
- Reading, reviewing, and implementing Quality Systems documentation, maintaining currency on all procedures.
- Perform preventative maintenance for all necessary equipment.
- Maintaining good housekeeping by keeping work areas clean, orderly and free of safety hazards, and by taking care of tools and equipment.
- Adhering to company safety policies by attending mandatory safety meetings, developing safe work habits and by providing suggestions for a safer workplace.
Minimum Requirements:
- One year experience in an industrial or laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Associate degree or equivalent in technical discipline.
- Analytical Chemistry experience
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to learn how to operate XRF and OES spectrometers, LECO equipment, and other auxiliary equipment used in a chemical laboratory.
- Ability to follow specialized chemical procedures written for a specific application as required by assigned work.
