What to Expect

Tesla's Supplier Industrialization teamis responsible forcriticalcomponentdevelopment and qualification activities at suppliers.This role will develop, qualify, scaleupandoptimizemanufacturing and quality system procedures for Battery cell manufacturing. In this role, you will work closely with many organizations both internal and external to Tesla, taking new battery cell designs frominitialconcept through into full production.

The battery assembly is a critical partinTesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-pacedand incredibly exciting. The ideal candidate should be ready to push their limits, as they joininhighly motivated and capable team to make unbelievable things into reality.


What You'll Do
  • Responsible for drivingIndustrialization &production launchreadiness,line/equipmentqualification using TQP (Tesla Qualification Process) &ensureOEEandquality targets areachieved

  • Guidesuppliersinselectingandvalidatingappropriate dispensingsystems for thermal/structural adhesives,definelaser/tabweldingprocessparameters,inspection criteria&validationrequirements

  • Drive supplier DFM reviews, guide suppliers inefficient use of poke-yokes, best methods of assembly, testing, and gaugingto ensure the product meets designrequirement

  • Drive critical assembly interface requirements between supplier & Tesla factory and ensure proper quality controls are implemented at supplier assembly lines

  • Perform assembly stack-up tolerance analysis and ensure assembly processcanmeet designrequirements

  • Drive root cause analysis &validatecorrective actions usingTeslaSCAR system for factory & field quality issues

  • Identify& drivecost reduction activities byutilizingprocess, materialoptimization& yieldimprovements


What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of assembly plant experience supporting batterypack,module,laser welding,2-partadhesive dispensing,vision-basedinspectionsor similarprocessesin a Processor ManufacturingEngineering,Supplier Quality Engineering orSupplier Industrialization Engineering role

  • Demonstrated experience in developing battery assembly manufacturing processes, qualifying &scaling tovolume with suppliers

  • Experience in a manufacturing setup handling Measurement system analysis, SPC (Cp/Cpkanalysis, Control Plans, FMEA & OEE

  • Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level

  • Excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers,peers,and other functional areas

  • Strong technical writing ability andanability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner. Must be familiar with SPC and data analysis

  • Abilityto travel on short noticedomestic & international, up to25% travel may berequired

    Expected Compensation
    $108,000 - $198,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
