Position Summary

Supervise hourly staff employees in the machining area. Responsible for directing workflow and orders through assigned work centers to meet demand and improve efficiency. Determines equipment and people resources required to meet production requirements and assigns/directs resources as needed to meet delivery deadlines. Oversee production in accordance with the published schedule. Ensure production quality meets or exceeds standards. Ensure all work is performed in a safe and compliant manner. Must be able to work a machine if need be and know the status of each order within the machining department. Also responsible for assessing machinists' training needs within their work centers.

What You'll Be Doing as a Machining Supervisor

  • Expert ability to interpret technical prints.
  • Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Resolve employee issues. Complete objective setting and performance reviews in a timely manner.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, delivery, and employee morale to achieve desired results in all areas. Work to continuously improve all areas. Follow lean manufacturing methods (lean daily management, eliminate waste, make problems visible etc.)
  • Provide part quotations from technical drawings, including estimated program, set-up, cycle labor, material size, and machine used.
  • Expert knowledge and use of CNC machine G&M codes and troubleshooting skills to identify and edit program improvements.
  • Directs and coaches team members on order output, timeliness, and quality, and assigns work orders.
  • Effectively utilizes team members to complete repair orders promptly and to the highest quality standards.
  • Assess team members' skills to determine training requirements.
  • Trains new and existing machinists as needed and contributes to the performance evaluation.
  • Determines equipment to be used in the manufacturing of parts, creates programming, completes machine setup, CNC setup, and operates the machine.
  • Responsible for evaluating job setup, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective action as necessary to produce component parts to drawing specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and finding solutions to issues regarding machines.
  • Abides by all company safety and health policies and procedures as defined.
  • Must use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Necessary

  • 5 years of Machining experience in addition to a Vocational/Technical degree or 8+ years of Machining experience instead of a degree.
  • Demonstrated skills in servant leadership, problem-solving, coaching, and training.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications including Word and Excel
  • CAM software experience
  • Expert level of reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Achieves technical mastery of equipment and develops it in others.
  • Proficiency with typical precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other common inspection tools

Pay range for this opportunity is $68,637 - $88,000. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
