Description

The Manager, Medical Writing role serves in a content oversight and content development role in support of Learning Solutions clients. This individual is responsible for implementing solutions designed by the Solution Design (BD) team, leading the development of medical content, overseeing medical writers (FT or subcontractors, direct report or otherwise), being accountable for the accuracy and completion of their assigned work streams, and sharing in content development tasks for assigned client projects. As needed, this role may also be asked to collaborate with the Solution Design (BD) and Learning Strategy teams and clients to determine training needs and develop recommendations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Execution Responsibilities
Conceptualizing New/Custom Content
Lead conceptualization efforts by participating in or supervising team members who are participating in the following:
  • Working closely with client stakeholders to determine optimal content and focus
    • Researching relevant and accurate materials (or thoroughly assessing client-provided materials)
    • Identifying primary key concepts for each course
    • Developing the flow of information to optimize learning
  • Support/validate learning strategy recommendations developed by the Learning Advisor/Learning Strategist as needed:
    • Discuss/review recommendations and provide input as requested
Writing Course Content
  • Lead writing efforts by participating in or supervising team members who are participating in the following:
    • Writing course transcripts, including summary sections and assessment questions
    • Reviewing for grammar and style
    • Incorporating client feedback (from sponsor and med/reg/legal)
Storyboarding
  • Lead storyboarding efforts by participating in or supervising team members who are participating in the following:
    • Translating written text into visual demonstrations of content
    • Identifying (and occasionally drafting) optimal images to convey key concepts
    • Writing careful instructions for animation and flow of content for each scene/slide
People Management Responsibilities
  • Oversees individual contributors within the Medical Writing team (FT or subcontractors), providing coaching and guidance
  • Supports maintenance of the Medical Writing contract resource bench, to facilitate project staffing
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of standard processes, templates, and tools for the Medical Writing team on an "as needed" basis
  • Supports Medical Writing team project allocation decisions on an "as needed" basis
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degree or PharmD/PhD preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Pharmaceutical/biotech experience
  • Three (3) years of training or training-related experience preferred, at least one (1) year required
  • High-level of MS Office writing skills required

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $X to $Y. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
