Summary:

Polar Semiconductor is proud to offer an opportunity to join our Pre-Apprenticeship program. The program is designed with a combination of formal education through Normandale Community College and on-the-job training as a Cleanroom Technician. Our Pre-Apprentices learn about Polar Semiconductor and the semiconductor industry from the ground up and build long-lasting careers with us.

About the role - you will:

On-the-Job:

  • Operate assigned equipment and run production material in a cleanroom environment
  • Load and unload processing equipment
  • Follow detailed processes to ensure correct procedures are completed
  • Perform quality inspections on finished products
  • Follow all safety requirements of the equipment and processes in the assigned areas

Education:

  • Must be in good standing with classes/university (Normandale Community College).

Shift: Sunday - Tuesday and Every Other Wednesday 5:50am - 6pm

Pre-Apprenticeship Duration: April 2026 through April 2027. Upon Pre-Apprenticeship completion successful candidates will have the opportunity to apply for a regular fulltime position at Polar Semiconductor.

About you:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 18 years or older
  • Successful completion of the Semiconductor Academy
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Comprehension of and ability to take action on detailed written and verbal processes
  • Learning mindset for an extensive hands-on initial training period

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires walking and standing on cleanroom floors for prolonged periods.
  • Working in a cleanroom environment and wearing clean room attire (bunny suit, mask, gloves, protective eye wear and booties).
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals and extreme oven temperatures, 550-800C.
  • Lift/carry/push/pull/ up to 10 pounds on a frequent and daily basis.
  • Visual acuity.
  • Ability to perform all wafer handling functions (i.e.: load, unload, transfer, transport, etc.).
  • Manual dexterity to operate handheld devices such as keyboard, keypad, mouse/trackball, scanner and wand.
  • Ability to perform two handed cassette/wafer handling including two handed grip and grasp, on a frequent to continuous and daily basis.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements throughout the course of 10-hour shifts.
