DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps maintain the safety and security of Commonwealth buildings and the people who use them. Your work supports daily operations by ensuring secure facilities and providing assistance during routine and emergency situations. As a Security Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Building Access Control: Monitor entrances, check identification, and ensure only authorized individuals enter designated areas
- Public Assistance: Provide directions, answer questions, and assist employees and visitors within assigned buildings
- Security Patrols: Check doors, lighting, equipment, and building conditions to identify hazards or unauthorized activity
- Emergency Response: Contact emergency services, administer first aid, and support safety procedures during critical situations
- Vehicle Screening: Observe and log vehicles entering the Capitol truck roadway and conduct visual and hand wand inspections
- Facility Oversight: Verify the security of sensitive storage areas and report fire or safety hazards to proper authorities

- Full-time employment
- Work shift varies, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 10:15 AM to 6:15 PM
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework for this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
