Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering energetic, creative, community-oriented leaders the opportunity to become a Branch Manager at the Rust Library in Leesburg, Virginia. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact branch that serves as a hub for engagement, learning, and connection in the community. As the system's only passport acceptance facility, the Rust Library adds a distinctive operational component, giving the Branch Manager the chance to oversee a high-demand, specialized public service while shaping innovative, community-focused library services. The ideal candidate demonstrates a passion for exceptional public service, a commitment to community engagement, and a dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive, and high performing team environment. The Branch Manager will oversee day-to-day operations of the branch, maintain high staff morale and stay aware of emerging trends and best practices in public library services. Duties include:

-Oversees and supervises Branch operations and services
-Monitors use of materials, supplies, and equipment
-Oversees the implementation of new technologies
-Defines goals of the Service Plan
-Collaborates with other Branch Managers and works with Advisory Board/Friends to establish priorities
-Oversees services provided by Branch to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and Department policies and procedures
-Ensures that established systems and processes are operating in compliance with licensure standards and other applicable regulatory standards; manages resources effectively
-Assesses program effectiveness, efficiency, outcomes, and quality through various measures
-Reviews financial data to assess expected vs actual revenue Identifies opportunities to improve service delivery
-Monitors specific finance reports and identifies changes in regulations that impact revenue.

LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedule will vary and will include weekends, evenings and holidays. Hiring salary commensurate with experience. Location is subject to change based on the operational needs of the Library system.

Minimum Qualifications

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master's degree is required; two (2) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including leadership of staff and daily operations of public-facing services, is required. A master's degree in library science is preferred; previous work experience and supervision in a library setting is preferred; experience with staff development and performance management is preferred; a thorough knowledge and understanding of trends, best practices, and emerging issues in public libraries is preferred.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Ability to lift books and other materials and move heavy book carts. Some bending and stooping required. Successful candidate will undergo criminal background, credit and DMV record checks.

Hold or obtain a Notary Public license within one (1) year of hire. Passport acceptance agent certification may be required within one (1) year of hire. Hold or obtain certifications to be a librarian in Virginia, in OSHA, and in related technology. Desire Project Management Professional (PMP) and CPR certificates. Prefer bilingual skills in Spanish/English.
