About us

National Grid Ventures US (NGV US) is seeking a Senior Analyst to join the Controllership, supporting a growing and evolving portfolio across generation, transmission, and energy infrastructure investments.

NGV US develops, owns, and operates energy assets, supporting a reliable energy system today while expanding into new markets and investment areas. The Controllership team leads financial reporting, controls, and accounting support across a diverse portfolio - delivering accurate and well-supported reporting, applying sound accounting judgment, and maintaining a strong and disciplined control environment. We partner closely with FP&A, operations, UK finance teams, and business stakeholders to support clear financial reporting, strong analysis, and well-informed business decisions.

About the Role

This role provides broad exposure across financial reporting, technical accounting, controls, audit coordination, and cross-functional business support. It combines core reporting responsibilities with more complex, judgment-driven work, offering the opportunity to strengthen technical skills, expand business perspective, and gain visibility into how different parts of the business connect. You will be part of a collaborative and high-performing team that values strong thinking, quality execution, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

What You'll Do

1. Support and deliver core controllership activities including complex accounting transactions, financial and regulatory reporting, and financial analysis across NGV US entities.
2. Review financial results and underlying support to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with accounting standards, policies, and reporting requirements.
3. Apply and strengthen technical accounting skills by researching accounting and reporting issues, reviewing underlying transactions and support, and helping assess appropriate treatment for business scenarios and emerging matters, including drafting clear and well-supported accounting memos.
4. Partner with FP&A and business stakeholders to analyze business performance, explain key drivers, highlight trends and risks, and connect reported results to underlying business activities.
5. Execute key financial controls to support a strong control environment, mitigate risk, and help ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and appropriately supported. Identify opportunities to improve control effectiveness, reporting quality, and efficiency.
6. Support audit and governance coordination by preparing documentation, responding to requests, organizing support, and working with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate timely and effective review.
7. Support changes affecting financial reporting structures and processes, including SAP coding block, reporting hierarchy, financial structure enhancements, and contribute to broader process improvements including better use of tools and technology.
8. Collaborate with colleagues across the US and UK to support consistent reporting and controllership outcomes across the broader NGV portfolio.

What You'll Need

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and CPA (or progress toward CPA)
* 4+ years of relevant experience in controllership, accounting, financial reporting, or audit, with public accounting audit experience (Big 4 or similar) strongly preferred
* Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, working knowledge of SAP and BI reporting tools, and ability to apply accounting guidance in a business context
* Curious, analytical, and technically strong - able to research and investigate issues, assess risk and implications, exercise strong judgment, and identify and escalate issues proactively.
* Self-starter and strong team player who communicates clearly, translates financial information into practical insights for different stakeholders, takes ownership, delivers with accountability, and brings a mindset focused on continuous learning and improvement
