SUMMARY:
The Research Student reports to the Principal Investigator, providing assistance to the project staff, as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts research protocols in conjunction with project staff, which may include, but is not limited to data entry, running assays, culturing cells, working on animal models, helping with laboratory maintenance, and presenting project results as necessary.Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures and objectives.The summer research student will be based in the department of emergency medicine and will assist with recruitment on clinical trials (e.g., low dose ketamine for mood disorders with suicidal ideation) and observational studies being conducted in the Emergency Department.Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Must be a matriculating student in a 4-year college program.EXPERIENCE:No experience needed.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Normal laboratory environment - requires standing, bending, sitting, use of major and minor equipment and computers. Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to use computer keyboard and other common laboratory and office equipment.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Incumbent functions independently within established laboratory protocol guidelines, and/or human subject guidelines, referring specific problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.

Pay Range:

$18.00-$25.82
