Job Overview:
Performs proper Radiographic procedures as required by physicians' orders. Provides patient services using diagnostic, portable and fluoroscopic equipment.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Licensed by the State of New Jersey
- Additionally registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist preferred
- RT preferred 5 years experience minimum 2 years required
- Successful completion of all orientation programs

Essential Functions:
- Radiologic Technologist is competent in production of quality images and radiographs for proper treatment and diagnosis by physician.
- Analyzes Each Processed Image. Reviews each image for: Proper technical factors. Proper positioning. Proper Right & Left markers including initials on all images. Ensure all images are properly marked. Correct patient identification is accurate. Correct exposure is utilized for each image.
- Follows National Safety Patient Goals. Practices universal precautions, and aseptic techniques. Activity for each patient utilizes two patient identifiers, ask patient their names and utilizes patient wrist band & DOB Demonstrates proper CDC hand hygiene guidelines. Practices medication reconciliation documentation.
- Maintain Cleanliness of Assigned Work Area Ensures assigned areas is maintained properly stocked with adequate appropriate levels of supplies and required material to perform procedures related to patient care in room assignments within the scope of diagnostic technologist. Ensures cleanliness of examining room and all diagnostic equipment free of dust, barium, contrast and blood. Removes dirty linen. Prepares exam table with new linen and pillow case with each new patient. Reports any maintenance repairs required related to procedure room.
- Maintains a Responsive and Respectful Relationship with patients. Provides safety and comfort to patients, their family and their guest. Ensures privacy towards patients securing main exam door and rest rooms. Handles emergency situations calmly. Responds to patient call bell when the opportunity becomes available. Demonstrates aggressive work ethic towards open patient exams pending to be completed. Keeps patients informed of their status of receiving their procedure. Responds to patients physical, social and psychological needs. Practices introducing themselves warmly by name before procedure. Explains all procedures in a clear concise manner. Obtains assistance from physician or radiology nurse when a problem occurs.
- Performs Diagnostic Radiologic Procedure in Inpatients & Outpatients According to Published Department Protocols. Reviews each requisition prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available Reviews patients orders in chat and physician script prior to completing examination. Selects appropriate type and number of images to provide diagnostic information. Performs and positions patients for each required view. Performs radiologic examination with a high standard of accuracy in positioning. Select appropriate technical factors to ensure good quality images.
- Performs other tasks and duties as required and assigned by the Assistant Diagnostic Lead Technologist. Maintains inventories, restocks supplies and linens & notifies supervisor when reordering is necessary. Cleans equipment according to manufactures recommendation. Participates in the clinical education of students & residents. Assist in orientation of procedures as well as instructing them to the basic principles of the examinations. Adheres to standards of care as per department and human resource policy and procedure. Always provides notification of advance notice to attendance and tardiness. Demonstrates reliability to consistently be ready to work at start time. Deals with complaints professionally and address problems directly with those involved. Communicates appropriately with patients, c-workers, students, physicians and supervisors. Ensures continuity and adequate follow through regarding equipment malfunctions; supply shortages etc.
- Processes Images Using CR & DR Technology Ensures proper handing of all exposed and unexpected cassettes in order to avoid artifacts. Efficiently process all images. Maintains CR cassettes by cleaning images ready for use and test cassette. Reports any equipment problems and artifacts on images to Manager regulatory Compliance Equipment Repairs & QA/QC operations.
- Records Data Relative to Procedures Completes required data with RIS system. Operates Radiology Information System and Picture Archiving Computer systems as required by the radiology department for patient care and management needs. Ends each case in IDX. Sends each accession number to PACS-separately (Kodak). Identifies each requisition as a separate accession number. Demonstrates before sending images checks images first in Amicas. Sends Images to PACS.
