General Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable / Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of our construction company. This role is responsible for processing vendor invoices, managing subcontractor payments, tracking job costs, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end accounting activities. The ideal candidate has experience in construction accounting, understands project-based financial processes, and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Review, code, and process vendor and subcontractor invoices accurately and timely Match invoices with purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documentation Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers Maintain vendor files, including W-9s, insurance certificates, and lien waivers Communicate with vendors and subcontractors regarding payment status and discrepancies Ensure compliance with company policies and construction contract requirements Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems and reporting processes. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 2-4 Specific Qualifications Required Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 2+ years of accounts payable or accounting experience, preferably in construction Knowledge of construction accounting principles and job costing preferred Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong communication and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 15 pounds Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via email Visual ability to review financial documents and computer screens for extended periods Work Environment Primarily office-based environment within a construction company setting May require occasional visits to construction sites or project offices Fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and changing priorities Standard business hours with occasional overtime during month-end close or peak workload periods License Required Yes Job Locations US-OH-Amelia Company Overview IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets, including electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets.
