THE POSITION

As a State Facility Director for Wernersville State Hospital, you will guide clinical and operational work that supports high-quality psychiatric care. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides overall leadership for clinical, administrative, and operational functions to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality hospital services. The work supports strong performance, clear direction, and a positive environment for patients and staff. As a State Facility Director, you will perform the following duties:

  • Hospital Leadership: Oversee clinical, medical, and administrative operations to maintain high standards of care and regulatory compliance
  • Strategic Direction: Guide long-term planning by setting goals, developing initiatives, and improving clinical and operational performance
  • Team Development: Support leadership staff, encourage collaboration, and promote open communication across departments
  • Stakeholder Relations: Work with internal and external partners, community groups, and governing bodies to support hospital needs
  • Budget Oversight: Manage the full operating budget and monitor resources to ensure financial responsibility
  • Program Advancement: Develop and strengthen hospital programs that enhance treatment, safety, and the patient experience

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. The work hours are subject to change based on the operational needs of this 24/7 facility.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Seven years of professional human services or health care program experience that includes three years in a mental health or residential care and treatment facility, including two years in a supervisory capacity, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years in a mental health or residential care and treatment facility, including two years in a supervisory capacity.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience at a Chief Executive Officer or Chief Operating Officer leadership level in a hospital
  • Graduate degree
  • Certification as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE)
