Automation Maintenance Technician - Controls Specialist

Location: Leola, PA | Pay: Up to $40/hr

Join a growing structural steel manufacturing company with nearly 60 years of success and a recently upgraded facility featuring new equipment, updated workspaces, and a major plant modernization project. We are seeking an experienced Automation Maintenance Technician / Controls Specialist to support automated production equipment and help launch a new custom-built machine.

This is a hands-on industrial maintenance role focused on PLC troubleshooting, electrical systems, and automation support in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled automation equipment
• Diagnose industrial electrical and control circuit issues (24V-480V systems)
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic
• Perform PLC programming and troubleshooting using Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems
• Support sensors, motors, VFDs, relays, contactors, and servo systems
• Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and automation components
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
• Assist with panel wiring, component replacement, and system verification
• Maintain compliance with workplace safety standards

Qualifications

• 3+ years of automation maintenance or industrial electrical experience
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and controls experience required
• Ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics
• Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments
• Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems preferred
• Electrical certification or technical training is a plus
