Responsibilities

  • The Access Coordinator RN is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and overseeing patient placement and hospital bed utilization to ensure safe, efficient patient flow across the organization.
  • This role serves as the central point of communication for admissions, transfers, discharges, and interdepartmental coordination, ensuring optimal use of hospital capacity while maintaining regulatory compliance and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or compact license eligible to practice in Texas.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience, preferably in emergency, critical care, house supervision, or patient flow roles.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous experience in bed management, house supervision, transfer center, or patient access coordination.
  • Knowledge of utilization management and capacity analytics.
  • Familiarity with EMTALA requirements and patient placement regulations.
  • Experience using electronic bed management systems and electronic health records (EHR).
