Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Training and Consultation Specialist for the department of Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the supervision of a faculty member, coordinates planning, development, training and technical assistance activities related to best practices in Community-Based Instruction ( CBI). Provides training and technical assistance in Community-Based Instruction, program design and program enhancement to school personnel statewide, with concentration on person-centered approaches for all students with disabilities, especially developmental. Responsibilities include collaborating with the New Jersey Department of Education's Office of Special Education ( DOE- OSE) and other Boggs Center personnel conducting training and technical assistance in CBI; developing, planning, and providing trainings; designing and disseminating instructional and other resources; project specific data analysis and reporting; and, responding to requests for information.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Develops training modules and materials related to Community-Based Instruction (CBI) including video and other training technology.
  • Delivers training modules to school/district personnel at designated locations regionally in keeping with DOE-OSE and Boggs Center agreement and expectations.
  • Develops and follows a system to deliver technical assistance to schools/districts regarding Community-Based Instruction (CBI).
  • Provides training and presentations about Community-Based Instruction to schools/districts and others statewide according to procedure.
  • Develops project elements and timelines in collaboration with supervisor, CBI coworkers, and DOE-OSE staff.
  • Collaborates with other Boggs Center employees regarding Community-Based Instruction (CBI) including data collection, evaluations, written and verbal communications, and information sharing.
  • As required, conducts analyses and writes reports and other materials related to Community-Based Instruction (CBI).

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • A Master's Degree in Special Education or a related field (Education, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Speech therapy, Psychology) and at least 3 years professional experience in the field of disabilities, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus 5 years' experience, or a PhD in a related field and one year of experience.
  • Direct experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Direct experience in transition from school to adult life/employment for students with disabilities.
  • Direct experience in Community-Based Instruction (CBI) for students with disabilities.
  • Direct experience with Work-based learning (WBL) or Structured Learning Experience (SLE) for students with disabilities.
  • Direct experience in special education.
  • Direct experience in coordinating services for students with disabilities.
  • Direct experience in coordinating complex collaborative projects and/or program development.
  • Basic computer proficiency in word processing, video conferencing, data analysis programs, PowerPoint, and use of internet.

Certifications/Licenses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in technical assistance to schools/districts.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of trainings and presentations in-person.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of trainings and presentations virtually.
  • Experience with technology applications and learning platforms such as Google, Zoom, Qualtrics, Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Knowledge about New Jersey State children and adult services.
  • Bilingual.


Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: May need to lift weights up to approximately 25 pounds in order to move equipment and materials.
  • Work Environment: New Brunswick based main office. Semi-private work area that is generally pleasant in a clean, well-lighted, quiet-to-moderatelyloud setting. Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours may be required. Candidate must be willing and able to travel statewide to provide training and technical assistance on site.
