The University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applicants for Budget Manager. Our Financial Services is seeking a Budget Manager to oversee budget operations and support organizational financial goals. The role focuses on operational execution, implementation of budget initiatives, regulatory compliance, financial analysis, and providing strategic recommendations to leadership.

The Budget Manager supervises budget staff, manages complex budget projects, and provides comprehensive budget oversight to ensure the efficient and effective use of institutional resources. This is a full-time, benefit and paid leave eligible position.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and directs staff implementation of budget initiatives, programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations

  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

  • Serves as the subject matter expert to unit leadership and institutional stakeholders regarding budget operations and functions

  • Analyzes, identifies, and makes recommendations in budget planning to leadership

  • Develops and administers unit or organizational budgets and large budget projections including budget planning, policies, controls, procedures, forecasts, and analysis

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field from an accredited institution.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in budget and/of financial management

  • Experience with complex budgets

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
