Description
Under the general supervision of the PI, the Staff Research Associate II conducts studies with a mouse model of white matter stroke examining acute injury mechanisms to axons and oligodendrocytes. The successful candidate will have had prior experience with rodent survival surgeries and in training of these techniques to others. You will also have at least two years of prior experience in neuroscience or a brain related field and be able to operate independently when performing experiments. Duties include, but are not limited to: performing precise stereotactic surgeries on mice, handling and injecting lentiviral constructs into brain, processing tissue for histological and immunohistochemical stains, independently running research projects on mouse stroke modeling and injury response, supervising undergraduate Lab Helpers, training graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in mouse surgery, drug and lentiviral delivery, participating in lab maintenance, supply ordering and all compliance tasks required for biohazard and chemical disposal protocols, perform PCR, gel electrophoresis, managing transgenic mice colonies, and performing cell culturing. Salary Range: $31.23 - $50.24/Hourly Qualifications
