Job Description

The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking an Assistant Gymnastics Coach to support the development, training, and performance of the Mizzou Gymnastics program. Reporting to the Head Gymnastics Coach, this position will play a key role in event-specific coaching, athlete development, recruiting, and meet preparation. The assistant coach will work closely with student-athletes, other coaches, athletic staff, and support personnel to enhance team success and ensure compliance with NCAA and SEC regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coaching and Player Development (40%)

* Assist in planning and conducting practices that develop individual and team skills across all gymnastics events, including vault, bars, beam, and floor.
* Provide event-specific instruction to student-athletes, including technical execution, skill progression, and routine composition.
* Evaluate athlete performance, offer feedback, and develop individualized training and progression plans.
* Support strength, conditioning, flexibility, and injury-prevention programs in coordination with athletic training staff.

2. Recruiting and Talent Evaluation (25%)

* Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes through scouting, video review, and in-person visits.
* Participate in recruiting efforts, including campus visits, communication with prospects and families, and coordination with compliance staff.
* Maintain accurate recruiting records and adhere to NCAA and SEC recruiting regulations.

3. Meet Preparation and Strategy (20%)

* Assist the Head Coach with lineup decisions, routine strategy, and in-meet adjustments.
* Analyze opponent performances and provide scouting insights for competition preparation.
* Support preparation for practices and competitions to maximize athlete performance and team scores.

4. Administrative Support and Collaboration (10%)

* Collaborate with athletic training, strength and conditioning, academic support, and equipment staff to coordinate player care and logistics.
* Assist with travel, team events, and other operational needs of the gymnastics program.
* Maintain records, statistics, and other documentation as directed by the Head Coach.

5. Other Duties (5%)

* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics administration.
* Ensure compliance with University, NCAA, and SEC rules, policies, and procedures.

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Prior NCAA Gymnastics Coaching experience is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
