The Department of Plastic & Maxillofacial Surgery is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA/APP) to work collaboratively with a team of physicians, residents, nurse care coordinators, and other allied health staff to provide all aspects of high-quality patient care for adult and pediatric plastic surgery patients.
The successful applicant will be an APP interested in working full-time (40 hours/week) M-F 8a-4p including outpatient care of patients and clinical and/or procedural care as needed by the practice and delegated by the collaborating surgeon. The APP will work in close partnership with an attending physician whose clinical expertise includes orthognathic surgery, pediatric oral and maxillofacial pathology, and the management of congenital craniofacial deformities at our Main Hospital and Battle Building locations in Charlottesville, VA. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient evaluation, perioperative management, and coordination of multidisciplinary care with otolaryngology, dentistry, neurosurgery, and related specialties. The APP will play a key role in facilitating preoperative preparation, postoperative follow-up, patient education, and longitudinal care for pediatric and adult patients with complex craniofacial and maxillofacial conditions in the ambulatory setting. In addition, the APP will provide dedicated support to a second attending surgeon specializing in reconstructive surgery at UVA Health Breast Care Center Pantops location. In this capacity, the APP will assist in the management of patients undergoing reconstructive and/or oncologic breast procedures, including clinic evaluations, perioperative care coordination, postoperative management, and procedural assistance as appropriate. Preferred qualifications: -1-2 years of experience in a surgical specialty, specifically plastic and reconstructive surgery, though new graduates with related experience will be considered. -Must be able to support patients across the lifespan including pediatric patient populations -Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of healthcare systems, leadership abilities, and prior experience with quality improvement efforts. Additional Information: -Anticipated schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM-4:00 PM -No call responsibilities at this time -No additional daytime shifts currently required -Opportunity for procedural involvement and professional growth within the department -Significant anticipated expansion and development of the APP role as reconstructive and craniomaxillofacial services continue to grow This position offers a unique opportunity to practice within a highly specialized academic surgical environment caring for complex pediatric and adult reconstructive patients. The APP will work closely with nationally recognized surgeons in craniomaxillofacial and reconstructive surgery and will play an integral role in the growth and development of multidisciplinary clinical programs at UVA Health. Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $124,845.00 annually.
