The Utility Plant Operator 2 at the South Mountain Restoration Center plays an important part in keeping essential systems running safely. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on operating and maintaining steam-generating boilers and related systems to meet the needs of the South Mountain Restoration Center. The role supports stable operation, accurate record keeping, and proper maintenance of essential plant equipment. As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Boiler Operation: Operate and regulate steam boilers and equipment to meet facility demands
- System Monitoring: Record operating conditions, check pumps, and maintain daily logs
- Water Testing: Test water quality and add chemicals to maintain proper control levels
- Maintenance Work: Repair equipment, install new parts, and complete preventive maintenance tasks
- Equipment Support: Operate emergency generators and drive state vehicles to obtain supplies
- Lead Responsibilities: Guide semi-skilled staff and support overall plant operations

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- The following shift is available: Relief Operator - Swing shift between: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (1st shift); 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (2nd shift); and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3rd shift).
- You will work Sunday - Saturday, with rotating days off, and no unpaid lunch break. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime as operationally necessary
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.
Special Requirement:
- You must be in possession of an active Class C motor vehicle license.
