The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Power Technical Specialist candidate should have experience within the utility scale power generation and renewable energy industry and be capable of supporting teams for power generation design projects including supporting in a traditional Owner's Engineering role. The ideal candidate will have experience with DCS and PLC based control systems, logic diagrams, control valve sizing, instrumentation specification, instrumentation installation details, P&IDs, motor control schematics, specification writing, and studies. Experience in networking, cyber security, and NERC CIP is also desired. Experience in design experience with power plant mechanical and electrical system processes is desired. A knowledge of electrical systems is beneficial.

In the role of Power Generation I&C Technical Specialist, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform studies, detailed design and traditional Consulting and Owners Engineering (OE) services within power generation and similar industrial facilities. Experience in renewables, fossil fired, and storage technologies.

  • Support business development by assisting with proposal development, maintaining good rapport with client's personnel, and being an engaged member of relevant industry organizations.

  • Have the capability to work with multi-disciplinary teams as well as on multiple projects in parallel.

  • Conduct field I&C walkdowns/assessments to compile scope of work definitions that can then be used to propose, plan, and price work.

  • Have experience with instrumentation and final control elements, distributed and programmable logic control systems, logic diagrams, instrumentation installation details, piping and instrument diagrams, motor control schematics, studies, and cost estimating.

  • Participate in I&C system procurement through specifications development, bid evaluation, and factory test witnessing as needed.

  • Conduit analysis related to I&C equipment and systems.

  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with clients on I&C engineering and design issues.

  • Support managing client relationships and marketing activities including proposal development in response to requests for proposals.

  • Serve in a lead engineer or possibly project manager role for small to medium sized projects.

  • Conduct training and mentoring of junior I&C engineers.

  • Supports and participates in the development of procedures design standards and standard templates for deliverables (e.g. specifications etc.) used by I&C engineers on projects.

  • Must be capable of developing engineering man-hour budgets for work on proposals and managing the budget under the supervision of the section manager and project manager during implementation.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems is beneficial.

  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other I&C Engineers, I&C Coordinators or Technicians.

  • Perform other similar duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in power system engineering.

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments.

  • Experience working in an owner's engineering role

  • Field experience, including startup and commissioning.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
  • Knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
