Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Unit Computing Specialist for the School of Engineering.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides prompt desktop system and network support in the Engineering computer labs and offices.
  • Manages Proxmox cluster with server containers and Ravada instructional virtual desktop (VD) system with Nvidia GPU devices.
  • Provides support for audio and visual conferencing systems in the School of Engineering buildings.
  • Develops CMS based web sites for Engineering research centers/labs and student organizations based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and two years of experience.


Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in web development, including php, css, mysql, and CMS based platforms.
  • Professional skills in Linux and Windows operating systems administration.
  • Working skills with Android and Mac OSX operating systems.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and security. Practical experience with network troubleshooting techniques, switch and firewall configurations.
  • Professional knowledge of bash and python scripting.
  • Experience with DevOps techniques: Ansible and git.
  • Experience with website security configuration and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • WCAG related certification, preferably Web Accessibility Certification from Deque University.
Equipment Utilized
  • X86_64 based servers, desktops, laptops, dell switches.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to lift a 50 lbs. equipment for installations.
