Field Service Intern (Part Time)

Summary: The Field Service Technician Apprentice is an entry-level position that provides hands-on training and development in the repair, maintenance, and inspection of heavy equipment or machinery in the field. Under the supervision of experienced technicians and management, the Apprentice will assist with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure equipment is operational and meets safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians in performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy machinery at customer sites or job locations.
• Learn and apply safety protocols and proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Document service work, including parts used, labor time, and job status.
• Support in completing inspections and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, vehicles, and work areas.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers to understand work orders and relay job progress.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Participate in training programs and online learning to develop technical proficiency.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must be able to push/pull at least 75 pounds on a regular basis.
• Requires prolonged standing, walking, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.

Must be able to work outside in various weather elements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or vocational training preferred.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and interest in pursuing a career in heavy equipment repair.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in various weather conditions, and travel as needed.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to safety.

Education/ Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Bachelor Degree
