Position Summary

KES is currently seeking a C4I Systems Test Specialist II to support maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and operational support for Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, and Intelligence (C4I), Tactical Data Link (TDL), RF communications, and related mission systems within a DoD test, integration, lab, and operational support environment.


This position supports electronic communications, data link, radio frequency, command-and-control, and associated support equipment across lab-based, shore-based, shipboard, aircraft-support, and operational test environments. The role requires strong electronics troubleshooting ability, practical experience using technical documentation and test equipment, and the ability to perform fault isolation across power, cabling, connectors, terminals, RF paths, software loads, configuration, and system interfaces.


Direct experience with Navy C4I, TDL, AN/USQ-125, AN/URC-107, AN/URC-141, MK-162 Ship Gridlock System, Command and Control Processor System (C2PS), Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS), Data Link Terminal Set (DLTS), or similar military communications systems is highly desired. Candidates with strong electronics, RF communications, maintenance, troubleshooting, and system test experience in military, DoD, lab, shipboard, shore-based, aviation-support, or other complex technical environments may be considered when they demonstrate the technical foundation needed to support C4I and TDL operations.


The selected candidate will support corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, system verification, software loading, cable and connector support, equipment setup, readiness checks, test support, documentation, and operational troubleshooting to maintain system readiness and support mission objectives.


Responsibilities


  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and operational support for electronic communications, RF, C4I, Tactical Data Link, and related mission systems
  • Support fault isolation across terminals, radios, power supplies, cabling, connectors, antenna paths, RF paths, timing sources, software loads, configuration settings, and command-and-control interfaces
  • Support Navy C4I and Tactical Data Link systems, including system setup, configuration verification, software loading, system checkouts, readiness checks, and operational test support
  • Perform cable tracing, cable validation, connector inspection, connector repair, hardware troubleshooting, and equipment restoration in accordance with technical documentation and approved procedures
  • Use electronic and RF test equipment to isolate faults, validate repairs, confirm system performance, and support corrective and preventive maintenance activities
  • Conduct System Operational Verification Tests, software testing, hardware validation, interoperability checks, and readiness testing to confirm system performance and mission readiness
  • Provide technical support for lab, shipboard, shore-based, deployed, and test environments, including on-board technical assistance, distance support, and operational troubleshooting as required
  • Document troubleshooting actions, equipment changes, software loads, test results, corrective maintenance, configuration changes, and operational impacts for follow-on technicians, engineers, and stakeholders



Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Education/Licensure/Credentials

Required:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering, electrical technology, computer engineering, computer science, information systems, telecommunications, communications systems, or a closely related technical discipline


OR


  • Equivalent specialized knowledge customarily acquired through a combination of military training, formal technical instruction, certifications, and substantial progressively responsible practical experience performing work of comparable scope, complexity, and independent judgment
  • This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level. Individuals must be able to maintain the necessary security clearance/eligibility for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.



Experience

Required:


  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as an Electronics Technician, RF technician, communications systems technician, military technician, test technician, field service technician, or other equivalent technical role supporting electronic, communications, RF, command-and-control, or mission systems
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic or communications systems using technical documentation, test equipment, system knowledge, and structured fault-isolation procedures
  • Working knowledge of electronic systems, RF communications, cabling, connectors, power supplies, equipment setup, system checkout, maintenance verification, and corrective maintenance practices
  • Experience using electronic or RF test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, Keysight FieldFox, or comparable diagnostic tools
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, system drawings, cutsheets, Interface Control Documents, maintenance procedures, test procedures, and other technical documentation
  • Experience supporting system checkouts, readiness checks, software loading, hardware validation, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, operational testing, or test event preparation
  • Ability to communicate technical issues, troubleshooting status, corrective actions, risks, and recommendations clearly to technicians, engineers, government personnel, customers, and operational users



Preferred:


  • Experience supporting Navy C4I, Tactical Data Link, RF communications, command-and-control, or related military communications systems
  • Experience with Navy Data Link or related communications equipment, including AN/USQ-125, AN/URC-107, AN/URC-141, MK-162 Ship Gridlock System, Command and Control Processor System, Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, Data Link Terminal Set, or comparable systems
  • Experience performing cable fabrication, connector repair, soldering, circuit card support, equipment setup, software loading, system initialization, power supply troubleshooting, and maintenance verification
  • Experience supporting System Operational Verification Tests, software testing, hardware validation, operational test preparation, interoperability testing, or fleet/lab readiness events
  • Experience providing on-board technical assistance, distance support, fault isolation, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, or operational troubleshooting in lab, shipboard, shore-based, deployed, or test environments
  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, NIWC Pacific, shipboard, shore-based, aircraft-support, lab, test, fleet, or operational environments
  • Familiarity with Tactical Data Link operations, RF paths, antenna paths, timing sources, command-and-control interfaces, software loads, configuration management, and operational readiness requirements
