Global Supply Manager, Cables (Starlink)

SpaceX
United States, Texas, Austin
May 19, 2026

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars.

GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER, CABLES (STARLINK)

We are seeking a world-class Global Supply Manager to own end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier management, and delivery for the full spectrum of datacenter cabling, including Active Electrical Cables (AEC), Active Optical Cables (AOC), CAT6, and all other interconnect cables, plus the critical cable installation labor and services required to support SpaceX's hyperscale compute and network builds. In this role, you will manage not only finished cable assemblies but also their key sub-components (transceivers, DSPs, raw cable, and connectors) while simultaneously orchestrating high-volume, high-velocity installation labor at deployment sites. You will partner deeply with responsible engineers to define commodity strategy, build multi-year roadmaps, establish approved vendor lists, and secure supply plus labor capacity at the extreme velocities SpaceX demands. You will negotiate transformative agreements, deploy predictive systems, drive co-innovation across hardware and services, and turn this complex, multi-skillset supply chain into a strategic force multiplier that enables SpaceX's record-breaking cluster build cadence. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of high-tech component sourcing and large-scale services/labor management, bringing both technical depth in datacenter cabling and operational excellence in installation execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner deeply with responsible engineers, network architects, and deployment teams to co-define commodity strategy, multi-year technology roadmaps, and approved vendor lists for AEC, AOC, CAT6, and all datacenter cables, including sub-components such as transceivers, DSPs, raw fiber/copper, connectors, and assemblies while simultaneously defining labor strategies and installation SOWs that support SpaceX's unprecedented build velocity
  • Own global sourcing end-to-end for cable assemblies, sub-components, and installation labor/services, including aggressive supplier qualification, dual/multi-sourcing, and performance management to deliver on-time delivery, lead-time compression, and labor scalability while matching SpaceX's record-breaking cluster deployment cadence
  • Negotiate transformative commercial agreements and SOWs that cover not only pricing and volume for finished cables and sub-components, but also co-development of custom high-speed/low-loss designs, priority allocation, and flexible labor contracts with built-in ramp-up/ramp-down capacity, safety standards, and quality gates
  • Deploy predictive analytics, AI-driven demand forecasting, real-time visibility tools, and labor scheduling platforms to anticipate and mitigate unique risks across materials (fiber/copper shortages, transceiver yield), component integration (transceiver-DSP compatibility), and services (labor availability, skilled installer scaling, site access) before they impact builds
  • Drive continuous cost leadership through should-cost modeling, value engineering of cable assemblies and sub-components, specification optimization, and long-term labor pricing agreements that reduce total cost of ownership while accelerating installation speed and maintaining the highest quality and reliability standards for SpaceX training clusters
  • Build and maintain a world-class hybrid supply base through strategic relationships, regular executive business reviews, joint development projects, and performance scorecards that position SpaceX as the preferred high-velocity partner for both cutting-edge cabling technology and large-scale datacenter installation services
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends in high-speed datacenter interconnects (AEC/AOC evolution, DSP/transceiver integration, fiber/copper technologies) and large-scale cable installation best practices; translate these into actionable strategies that keep SpaceX at the bleeding edge of cabling performance, density, and deployment efficiency

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:

    • Business
    • Supply Chain
    • Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in global supply chain, procurement, or commodity management with a focus on datacenter cabling, interconnect hardware, or large-scale installation services

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Deep technical understanding of AEC/AOC, CAT6, high-speed interconnect technologies, transceivers, DSPs, and the full datacenter cabling ecosystem, combined with practical experience managing large-scale installation labor and services
  • Proven track record managing cable assemblies, sub-components (transceivers, DSPs, fiber/copper), and/or labor/services in hyperscale or high-growth technology environments
  • Hands-on familiarity with datacenter build processes, cable installation, and FATP-style integration
  • Previous experience at hyperscalers, leading cable/transceiver suppliers, ODMs/CMs, or specialized installation service providers supporting AI infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex SOWs for both hardware commodities and labor/services while delivering results in ambiguous, high-velocity environments with extreme timelines and massive scale
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills across both technical component and services domains
  • Familiarity with commodity management, roadmap planning, vendor development, approved vendor lists, and hybrid hardware/services procurement processes
  • Passion for SpaceX's mission and excitement about enabling the fastest AI infrastructure builds on Earth

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support supplier factories, cable assembly sites, transceiver/DSP vendors, and live installation projects at SpaceX data centers
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with rapidly evolving priorities and world-class execution speed
  • This position is based in Austin, TX and requires being onsite

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. * 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. * 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
