Compass Oncology- the largest privately owned cancer care and research network in the Pacific Northwest is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to work On Call/PRN in our Oral Chemotherapy Department. This position is located at our Central Business Office. This position is a key role in our Oral Chemotherapy program. Acting as a liaison for the patients, you would help to coordinate care for those selected for the program, and assist in communications between the physician, patient, and pharmacist.

Location: Central Business Office - Vancouver WA

Salary Range: $26.41 - $44.59 per hour

**Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate's applicable experience and qualifications, as well as internal employee equity considerations.

JOB SCOPE:

Under general supervision, provides general nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Promotes efficient patient flow, assists with patient care. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and support within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Assess patients for adherence to oral medications, identify barriers, and monitor for side effects.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on medication administration, side effect management, and adherence strategies.
  • Coordinate processing and receipt of prescribed medications; ensure accurate dosage calculations and adherence to schedules.
  • Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to medications and treatments to physicians.
  • Respond to incoming calls, phone in prescriptions, and provide follow-up communication as directed by physicians.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, medication administration, and communications.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with oncology and oral medication therapies.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by the Registered Nurse, consistent with LPN scope of practice.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
  • Current LPN OR State LPN license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum of (3) years of nursing experience, preferably in an oncology environment preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Ability to convey information to patients regarding treatment, side effects, follow up.
  • Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer is preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Excel and Word, electronic medical record, and physician office phone systems.
