Position Summary Information












Primary Purpose
The mission of Appalachian State University's Office of Student Conduct, a unit of the Office of the Dean of Students, is to educate students about community standards, promote student learning and accountability, and facilitate the development of thoughtful and responsible citizens. The Office of Student Conduct strives to reduce and prevent behavior that undermines student academic success and that negatively detracts from the educational mission of the University; to improve the health and safety of students and the community; to provide timely support and resources for students; and to prevent violence in and around the University campus.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of best practices in the student conduct field
  • Demonstrated experience making complex decisions
  • Able to serve all students
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, a collaborative communication style, strong interpersonal skills, and proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must be detail-oriented, with strong organizational abilities.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Earned Master's degree
  • Progressive experience in student conduct, student affairs, or related work
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues facing the student conduct field and higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to student conduct
  • Experience with Maxient or other database management systems
  • Enthusiastic about engaging with college students in an educational setting

License/Certification Required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties of the position include the following:

  • Serve as a Conduct Resolution Administrator, review, adjudicate, and manage conduct cases;
  • Facilitate the academic integrity process and the formal resolution process;
  • Assist in addressing off-campus conduct violations;
  • Serve as a liaison to local law enforcement, including University Police and off-campus agencies;
  • Serve as a liaison to University Housing staff;
  • Research trends and assist with the implementation of best practices related to student conduct and academic integrity;
  • Work collaboratively with units throughout the University;
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the office, including file maintenance and administrative support.


Responsibilities can include other duties as assigned.

SALARY RANGES will be determined by Degree Earned:
At the time of hire, salaries will be based on the following criteria:
Earned Bachelor's Degree - $46,000 - $48,000*
Earned Master's Degree -
$50,000 - $55,000*

*Relocation Allowance or reimbursement may be available to elligble finalist.
