The Lucida Project is a precision medicine-like initiative that will enroll approximately 1,500 participants nationwide through remote recruitment, along with an additional 300 participants who will complete the remote components alongside an in-person visit at a local site. Enrollment will take place over a two-year period.

The Research Specialist will support all aspects of the research process, including participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling, as well as data collection, processing, and analysis. A substantial portion of the role involves direct interaction with participants remotely (e.g., via phone, email, and video). This may include assisting participants with downloading and using study apps, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing step-by-step guidance for study procedures such as collecting biological samples (e.g., microbiome samples and blood spots) or recording short videos on mobile devices. For the local cohort, participants will be scheduled for in-person visits that include procedures such as blood draws, and the Research Specialist may be required to help coordinate and, when needed, oversee these on-site visits.

We are seeking someone who is flexible, compassionate, comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and able to think on their feet in a dynamic research environment.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results

Compensation:

The typical starting salary for this position is $44,543 to $54,120. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working in team environments

  • Experience conducting research with human subjects

  • Ability to coordinate study visits and manage schedules

  • Ability to manage participant data

  • Skill in preparing research materials such as flyers

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with populations with mental health conditions

  • Experience conducting clinical trials research

  • Familiarity with community outreach and engagement activities

  • Experience with social media and website updates for research communications

  • Experience with implementation of quality assurance protocols for various types of data collected via mobile phones, including from questionnaires and/or in-the-moment surveys

  • Experience with research data, including: databases, data management, and remote survey administration tools (REDCap, Qualtrics, and/or Gorilla)

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a closely related field required
