The Opportunity with McKinstry

McKinstry is seeking a Labor Relations Business Partner to join our Platform Construction team in Texas. This position is responsible for managing labor relations activities between McKinstry and union members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the execution, administration, and performance of collective bargaining agreements in conjunction with Labor Relations Team and Business Unit Leaders.
  • Work with the Director of Labor Relations and trade superintendents to develop strategy on labor issues, including response to grievances and jurisdictional questions.
  • Manage the drug testing compliance / on-boarding process and assist with unemployment process for union members.
  • Investigate problems such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, and employee and applicant appeals and grievances; provide guidance and recommendations for problem resolution to company leadership.
  • Stay abreast of developments in regulations affecting union employees and monitor compliance with law.
  • Provide advice and support to various departments, including payroll, with pay and benefits issues for union members.
  • Provide employee life-cycle support for union employees.
  • Coordinate end-of-year gifts, incentives, or bonuses for field employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

Education, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); SharePoint preferred.
  • Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Five (5) years of experience in human resources and/or labor relations.
  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe after hire.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally.
  • Personal transportation required for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed.

The pay range for this position is $80,100 - $134,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
