Job Title: AI Transformation Strategist Department: Health Information Systems Reports To: Associate CIO Position Summary This role focuses on bringing structure and visibility to AI across Cook County Health (CCH). It works across clinical, operational, and technology teams to track how AI is being used, what's working, and where we're seeing real impact. This role will serve as a central point of coordination for AI-related visibility, helping ensure we are aligned, not duplicating efforts, and focused on areas that matter most. The position is not focused on building AI, but on ensuring we understand how it is being used, where it is delivering value, and where it is creating risk. The goal is to provide clear, consistent insight into AI across the organization so we can make informed decisions, avoid unnecessary investment, and focus on initiatives that improve operations and patient experience. Given the complexity of the organization, this role will need to navigate a lot of moving pieces, connect the dots across teams, and keep us grounded in what's practical within our workflows and environment. Responsibilities *Track and monitor AI initiatives across the organization, providing clear visibility into status, adoption, and alignment with business and clinical priorities. *Define and report on key metrics, including operational impact, efficiency gains, and user adoption. *Maintain visibility into AI tools, use cases, and vendors across the enterprise, identifying overlap, gaps, and opportunities for consolidation. *Work with clinical, operational, and technology teams to understand how AI is being used in workflows and identify gaps, risks, or inconsistencies. *Provide insights based on data and observed outcomes to support leadership decision-making. *Support AI governance by tracking compliance, risk considerations, and adherence to established policies. *Monitor AI performance across workflows and identify patterns, risks, or unintended outcomes that may impact operations or patient care. *Prepare clear, executive-level updates on AI initiatives, including progress, risks, and realized or expected value. *Translate AI-related activity into practical, business-friendly insights for non-technical stakeholders. *Promote responsible and transparent use of AI through communication, documentation, and stakeholder awareness. Qualifications: *Bachelor's degree required; degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. *4+ years of experience in data analysis, healthcare IT, or AI-related initiatives. *Experience working with AI-enabled tools or supporting AI-related implementations within real-world workflows. *Experience tracking, reporting, and analyzing metrics to measure performance, adoption, and outcomes. *Familiarity with AI governance, regulatory compliance, and responsible AI practices. *Experience working with cross-functional teams, including IT, clinical, operational, and business stakeholders. *Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-friendly insights for leadership. *Experience with data security, privacy, or digital transformation initiatives preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics *Communication: Translates complex AI concepts into clear, business-friendly language that supports decision-making. *Collaboration & Influence: Works effectively across clinical, operational, and technical teams, building alignment and trust. *Analytical Thinking: Interprets data, identifies trends, and provides actionable insights. *Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in data, reporting, and compliance-related activities. *Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and emerging technologies. | |
