Civil Staff Engineer (EIT)

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Civil Staff Engineer (EIT) to join our team. This role involves supporting civil engineering and design development for a variety of McMillen projects, including dams, fish passage and screening facilities, fish hatcheries, bridges, and other water resources-related projects. The Civil Staff Engineer will work under the direction of project engineers and project managers, applying a range of design engineering techniques, modeling methods, and construction support services to successfully deliver fisheries and water resources projects for federal agencies, local municipalities, and private utility companies.

From concept to completion, projects are guided through feasibility studies, permitting, design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring technical precision and real-world functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect data and gather relevant information and documentation
  • Perform standard computations and analyses
  • Complete basic design tasks
  • Prepare drawings and visual aids
  • Assist with tasks such as preparing permit applications, drawings, and written documents
  • Prepares portions of project documentation
  • Reviews and edits specifications
  • Conducts research and investigations
  • Observes construction activities and field operations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • 0-5 years of civil design experience required; water resources-related experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and construction materials related to water resources projects
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate contract documents, plans, and specifications
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% per month
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, lead tasks, work independently, and remain self-motivated
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation Package:

  • Pay Range: $66,000 - $101,800 (DOE)
  • Benefits: McMillen provides a full Benefits Program comprising medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, EAP, HSA, 401(k) and match, 9 paid holidays, generous PTO, opportunity for stock ownership, and wellness reimbursement.
