Job Summary: Provides effective leadership, supervision and delivery of projects within the operations, manufacturing and production functions in close cooperation with the project owner. Is responsible for the successful delivery of all work elements, ensuring compliance with the statutory and legislative requirements and ensuring that the project is delivered on time, to budget and according to quality requirements. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary contact during the design, manufacture, and field service phases of assigned projects
- Gains a comprehension of customer design requirements through the review of specifications, drawings and customer interface. With this knowledge, creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to changing needs and requirements
- Defines project scope, cost estimates, goals and deliverables with collaboration from internal sales, engineering, production, quality and service groups
- Tracks performance identifies issues/roadblocks and implements corrective actions.
- Manages project contracts including managing risk of contractual obligations relating to projects
- Runs project kick-off meetings effectively across all internal stakeholders with full understanding of milestones
- Effectively communicates relevant project information to management
- Works w/ technical team to develop "turnover" documentation to engineering, production and service for manufacturing and servicing the equipment
- Effective change order management
- Responsible for scheduling and forecasting service revenue
- Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, required documentation as needed for project support.
- Provides guidance to PM1
- Manages day-to-day aspects of all assigned projects
- Manage day-to-day client interactions
- Provides timely response to all project support requests
- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
- Understanding how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
- Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections
- Understands pricing model and billing procedures
- Proactively manage project risk and develop mitigation plans and contingency strategies
- Follows-up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices
- Ensures project legal documents are completed and signed on a timely basis
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
- Keeps track of lessons learned and share those lessons with management
- Understands production processes and able to coordinate shipping schedule b/w internal and external customers clearly
- Ability to manage service revenue at expected margins
- Travel as needed in support of projects (30%, often batched)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial), Project Management, Business, Supply Chain, or 5+ years' experience as an HVAC Project Manager.
