Academic Programming & Student Services Coordinator Landscape Architecture University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Job SummaryWork with the department's Head, Associate Head, and academic program chairs to manage programs, recruitment and admissions, and student support services and to interpret and evaluate academic policy. Duties & Responsibilities Student Services: *Serve as primary contact and academic advisor for all BLA, MLA, and MSUD students and as consulting academic advisor for Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture students regarding Graduate College policies and procedures. *Serve as department contact/advisor for students in undergraduate Minor in Landscape Studies and graduate Minor in Heritage Studies and Preservation. *Act as department's liaison with private firms and professional organizations to communicate employment and internship opportunities to students. *Collaborate with organizers from Architecture and Planning, departmental alumni, the Head, and other front office staff to coordinate the annual Career XPO. *Develop and deliver student educational and professional development programming. Academic Programming: *Act as department's liaison with the College of Fine and Applied Arts, Graduate College, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and Office of the Registrar regarding student admissions, records, department curricula, awards and fellowships, and committees as appropriate (within the parameters of FERPA). *Oversee recruitment initiatives for the BLA program and collaborate with department administrators, academic program chairs, Department Resource Committee members, and College of Fine and Applied Arts on recruitment initiatives for all programs. *Read and evaluate undergraduate admissions applications as requested by the College of Fine and Applied Arts. Apply discretion and independent judgment in evaluating applications and gathering information in preparation for admission consideration and make recommendations to the Office of Undergraduate Affairs. *Help promote scholarships, fellowships, and other awards to qualified students. *Serve as ex officio member of curriculum and planning committees as needed. *Facilitate the LA 100 Introduction to the Department of Landscape Architecture course for new BLA students. * Work with campus Study Abroad advisors to coordinate participation by BLA students and incoming exchange students. Administration: *Support the development and implementation of departmental programs, policies, and objectives in collaboration with the department's Head, Associate Head, and academic program chairs. *Advise and support the department's Head, Associate Head, academic program chairs, and academic staff on interpretation of, evaluation of, and compliance with academic policies of the College of FAA and Graduate College. *On an annual basis, collect information and manage records about recent graduates in ongoing preparation for BLA and MLA programs reaccreditation reviews by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB). *Advise the department's Head and Associate Head about front office hiring and other needs of the department. *Lead and assist with other projects and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree * Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) and/or Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) * Five years post degree experience with some of that as a teacher, mentor, or academic advisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* Strengths in analytical skills, communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. * Knowledge of academic advising, University of Illinois procedures, and the ability to provide academic guidance to students in a design discipline. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The salary range for this position is $65,000- $72,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
