POSITION SUMMARY:

As a key member of Synagro' s Engineering Group, this position will blend technical expertise in construction and infrastructure, with strong administrative and leadership skills to deliver complex capital projects efficiently and effectively.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

The role will be measured by the successful design, development, and implementation of project plans and strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Project Oversight: Manage and oversee the full lifecycle of capital works projects - from concept and design through construction and commissioning
  • Planning & Development: Develop project scopes, objectives, and technical feasibility studies, involving all relevant stakeholders
  • Budget & Finance: Prepare and monitor budgets, control expenditures, and ensure compliance with approved financial plans
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with government agencies, contractors, consultants, to coordinate activities and resolve issues
  • Contract Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with legal and technical requirements
  • Regulatory Compliance: Secure permits, licenses, and approvals from relevant authorities
  • Performance Monitoring: Use project management tools to track progress, manage changes in scope, schedule, and cost, health and safety, and report to management
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize delays or cost overruns
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project records, including plans, specifications, and compliance documents

STATUS AND SCOPE:



  • The work environment is fast-paced and challenging.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, material handling, and technology processes.
  • Strong knowledge of managing contractors and consultants.
  • Field or operational experience with an understanding of procedures and field implementation strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction practices, gas handling, cogeneration, process systems, solids handling, anaerobic digestion, heat recovery, and drying technologies is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in Business Development activities in Pricing, Costing, and Presentation skills are desirable.
  • General computer proficiency. (Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, RS Mean, and Autocad).
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Ability to travel (50%)

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Strong project management and construction industry knowledge.
  • Experience in public works, infrastructure, or capital improvement programs.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial planning, and capital program management.
  • Ability to lead teams, supervise staff, and manage contract consultants
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with governmental fiscal policies, procurement processes, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, requiring strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Involves both technical (engineering, design, construction) and administrative (budgeting, compliance, reporting) responsibilities.
