CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
UNION: Facility Services -SEIU
REPORTS TO: Director, Facility Services
PLACEMENT: Facility Services, 3A or 3B
HIRING RANGE: 3A - $30.65 - $30.97 per hour
3B - $43.90 - $44.24 per hour

*Internal candidates (3B): Hourly rate is subject to the terms of the current union contract.

POSITION SUMMARY
Performs manual and clerical work in the shipping and receiving room providing support involving all aspects of material handling, including picking parts, shipping, and receiving goods and storing inventory. Visually inspects material for quality and correctness, ensuring that all parts are properly labeled and identified. Supervises and trains part-time clerks and student workers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accept and check-in merchandise ordered on college purchase orders; input accepted quantities on computer; print and distribute receiving report; records shipments in Receiving Log; maintain records associated with receipt of merchandise.
2. Notify and resolve shipping errors with vendor; file claims for damaged items.
3. Assemble small furniture in knocked down condition.
4. Prepare shipments and process paperwork for returned merchandise.
5. Prepare all UPS shipments for shipment.
6. Maintain central stores inventory and process stores orders; submit to purchasing annual order for bidding and as needed throughout the year; enter store orders on computer and deliver to the department; take inventory of stores inventory prior to annual order and at fiscal year-end.
7. Assist in the annual inventory of campus furniture and equipment.
8. Deliver shipments to appropriate department.
9. Make deliveries of supplies and merchandise to all extended campuses.
10. Inventory and tag fixed assets; create associated records for equipment.
11. Interview and recommend for hire, train, and supervise part-time receiving clerk and student workers.
12. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma. Experience in clerical or administrative routines.
2. Experience with computers and forklift.
3. Must be physically capable of lifting and moving heavy objects and assembling furniture.
4. Ability to work well with others and assist them in performing their work.
5. Courteous, dependable, able to follow instructions.
6. Valid driver's license and good driving record.
7. Capable of assembling furniture.
8. Must be willing to take initiative and capable of performing duties with minimal supervision.
9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in shipping and receiving/stores environment.
2. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
3. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to lift packages and shipments weighing up to 50 lbs.
2. Must bend, stoop, and kneel frequently.
3. Must be able to spend a large part of the day standing up and moving around.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Work is indoors/outdoors.
2. The employee must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust, and noise.
3. Frequently required to work under inclement weather conditions.
4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud. Be willing and able to go up in an open lift to heights of approximately thirty feet.
5. Display knowledge of safe operation of equipment while maintaining the level of safety required and exhibited by JJC and OSHA requirements.
