Join a supportive Advanced Practice Team in a role supporting the Massachusetts General Brigham Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.
This new program specializes in the care of patients with the condition known as clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP). Specifically, this role is an opportunity to help lead the development of this program as an APP-lead ambulatory clinic and to advance a rapidly evolving clinical landscape for this patient population. Program development involves leading interdisciplinary tumor boards, clinical operations, as well as seeking out future opportunities for clinic growth.
You will be joining a multi-disciplinary and innovative team of experts from our leukemia, bone marrow transplant, hematology, and early detection and diagnostics teams. These teams have a demonstrated history of providing exquisite, evidence-based patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to work in this invigorating and collaborative environment.
The hematologic oncologic APP will provide direct care to outpatient patients in Boston. With an interdisciplinary team approach, this provider will promote a collaborative relationship between providers, professional nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure continuity of patient care in the management of their disease and related issues as well as to develop expertise in the field. Within this role, the advanced practice provider will be responsible for a panel of patients and include performing patient assessments, monitoring for toxicities, assessing clinical responses and providing both direct and indirect patient care.
Other responsibilities include caring for patients throughout their continuum of care and fostering collaboration with other professionals within the hospital and clinics to facilitate patient care. In addition, this APP will collaborate with research team members to develop and conduct clinical trials inclusive of screening, consenting and managing patients on trial.

Ideal Candidate will have:
*2 Years Advanced Practice experience preferred
*Prior hematology/oncology experience preferred.
*Proficiency with Epic and EMRs preferred.
*Familiarity with clinical trials preferred.
Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures

Education
Master's Degree Nursing or Physician Assistant required

Licenses and Credentials

- Registered Nurse [RN - MA License]

- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse [APRN] [MA License] or

- Physician Assistant [MA License]

Experience
Experience as a nurse practitioner 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
