| Position Summary |
The Building Manager for the West Campus Dining and Well-being Center serves as the primary steward of a complex, highly utilized, student-facing facility that supports dining, wellness, and collaborative engagement. This role is responsible for ensuring the building operates safely and efficiently, in alignment with University of Georgia standards, while fostering a welcoming and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
The Building Manager provides proactive leadership in building operations, safety, security, access control, space stewardship, and maintenance coordination. Working with a high degree of independence and professional judgment, this position collaborates closely with Dining Services leadership and campus partners, including Student Affairs, Instruction, Center for Teaching & Learning, University Health Center (
UHC), Facilities Maintenance Division (
FMD), Dining Services Maintenance, Enterprise Information Technology Services (
EITS), the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness (
OSEP),
UGA Police, vendors, and contracted service providers. The Building Manager is designated as the Building Safety & Security Representative (
BSSR) and is responsible for 24/7 emergency coordination and response.
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with flexibility required based on operational needs. Occasional evenings, weekends, and recall availability within 30 minutes may be required. Emergency situations are managed using sound judgment, established protocols, and university guidelines. Work is performed independently with periodic review and requires accountability for outcomes and risk awareness. |

Building Operations, Safety & Security Leadership -
- Serve as the primary manager for day-to-day building operations, ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all occupants and visitors.
- Manage the student security and collaborative space room reservation workforce, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight.
- Maintain and oversee building access control systems, including card access, office keys, and access permissions.
- Oversee building security systems, including alarms, security cameras, and monitoring protocols, and coordinate responses to incidents as needed.
- Serve as the Building Safety & Security Representative (BSSR) to the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness, providing leadership during emergencies and participating in drills, incident reviews, and after-action reporting.

Facilities Coordination & Preventive Maintenance -
- Proactively inspect building facilities and assess conditions; receive and evaluate maintenance concerns from occupants and stakeholders.
- Coordinate building maintenance needs with Dining Services Maintenance and the Facilities Maintenance Division (FMD), ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for significant building assets, including furnishings, finishes, patios, sidewalks, pressure washing, and window cleaning.
- Identify potential facility-related risks and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.

Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety & Compliance -
- Coordinate and maintain building emergency preparedness plans, including evacuation, shelter-in-place, and continuity procedures.
- Ensure emergency equipment such as AEDs, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and safety signage are properly placed, accessible, and inspected.
- Coordinate and support fire, life safety, and other inspections in partnership with UGA Fire Safety, Environmental Safety Division, and other regulatory entities.
- Monitor corrective actions following inspections and ensure timely resolution of identified deficiencies.
- Participate in required safety, emergency management, and compliance training as designated by the University.
