Position Summary

The Infection Prevention Level II Infection Preventionist is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the Infection Prevention Program for an assigned hospital. The Senior Infection Preventionist (Sr. IP) serves as a subject matter expert in infection prevention with specialized proficiency in clinical data analysis, regulatory interpretation, and workflow optimization. In addition to core IP responsibilities, the Sr. IP leads system-wide process improvement initiatives, mentors team members, and partners with leadership to drive strategic infection control goals.

Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure.

Responsibilities

  • Leads infection prevention projects targeting workflow efficiency and HAI reduction.

  • Analyzes complex clinical and operational data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.

  • Partners with IT/data teams to optimize electronic surveillance tools and automate processes.

  • Develops and implements scalable strategies to improve compliance and reduce variation.

  • Coaches and mentors other IPs; supports onboarding and competency development.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary leadership forums to align IP strategies with broader quality goals.

  • Demonstrate competency in ID-PDSA principles.

  • Experience with process improvement and other Quality tools

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, ARNP) or other healthcare related fields

  • Registered Nurse with a valid license

  • 5 years and current clinical experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting.

  • Experience in Infection Prevention and Control required

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)

  • Internal candidates' experience and performance may be considered in lieu of education.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $145,808.00 - $205,545.60 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
