Summary:

The Delivery Lead plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by working in conjunction with their leader in providing guidance and day to day direction of our transfer delivery drivers. This individual works with their team to ensure processes are in place and training is provided to manage and continuously improve work flow, promote safety, proficiency, and accuracy in delivering product to our customers and branches with excellent customer service. The 2nd Shift Delivery Lead is a self-starter, works autonomously, and performs all of the duties and responsibilities of a delivery team member in such a manner that sets an example for others. They also serve as back up and coverage support for the transfer drivers on different routes and /or different shifts. They also seek opportunities to ensure compliance with DOT regulations while supporting a positive work environment. This individual is seen as a leader and continually coaches and mentors others on the team so they may continually improve. Their leadership should promote our culture, our 5 P's and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Oversee transfer delivery team and provide day to day work direction and by holding the team accountable
  • Run delivery routes and arrange for coverage as needed
  • Assist with overnight transfers and the staging of materials as needed
  • Coordinate the logistics of the transfer of materials between our two Cottage Grove locations
  • Create and sustain a positive team atmosphere
  • Coaching and training other team members
  • Manage efficient, safe and accurate delivery of products
  • Maintain DOT regulation compliance
  • Monitor and track truck maintenance and cleanliness
  • Create a cohesive team attitude
  • Encourage creative thinking and continuous improvement within the team
  • Provide training and cross-training to all team members
  • Assist Supervisor or Manager in handling employee issues and performance management
  • Handle internal customer requests and concerns
  • Maintain vehicle, warehouse, and warehouse dock cleanliness/order
  • Maintain adherence and promote safety policies and initiative
  • Promote our culture and 5 P's

Job Requirements/Specifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 year degree preferred
  • Class A CDL is required
  • 1 year previous delivery or courier experience required
  • Ability to operate lift truck equipment
  • Ability to meet and maintain qualifications required by DOT
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Flexibility to provide coverage outside of regular schedule
  • Knowledge of Eclipse and RF guns preferred
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs on a consistent basis
  • Ability to work a varied shift

  • Consistently standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, bending at the waist, twisting upper body, climbing, reaching, working with hands & fingers, talking, hearing, depth perception, and field of vision
  • Frequently kneeling, crouching, vision acuity near & far, vision adjustment, driving, team lifting, working with others, customer contact, noise, vibration, confined area, works indoors, and works outdoors
  • Sometimes sitting, balancing, crawling, color vision, works alone, non-standard work shift, extended day, cold, heat, temperature changes, high places, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation
